Babson Survival Guide Part 14: Helpful Survival Hints

Here is a collection of random tips that will really help you get by. Some of these were mentioned elsewhere, but everything is here for easy reference.

Make Friends with ITSD

Having friends in ITSD can be a huge help. Normal wait times if you take your computer in for service are 3-5 days at best. A friend that works there might be able to fix your computer without taking it in, since they know what they're doing and know how the system works.

Knight Parties Start at 12, not 10

Only show up at 10 for free food and drinks. Don't expect a lot of people to be there early.

Wall Street Journals Are Still Around

The WSJ used to be all over campus for free, but Babson quit providing that service to cut costs. However, there is still a limited supply in the graduate school (Olin Hall.)

Be Careful Who You Trust

As we said before, this is a business school. People are workaholics and are only looking out for themselves. A lot of people will manipulate you to their advantage.

Professors Value Class Participation

Participating during class is a good way to boost your grade. Another way to suck up is to attend office hours. Professors love kids who show up to talk about class or something related.

Use Mozilla Firefox

Your laptop will come with Microsoft Internet Explorer, which means you should download and install as soon as possible, for better browsing and enhanced security. Sometimes Firefox is even required for certain Information Technology classes.
